Slow-Cooker Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg stewing beef
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 onions, finely diced
  • 3 potatoes, diced
  • 1 tin chopped tomatoes
  • 1-2 pints beef stock
  • 300ml red wine (optional)
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • salt and pepper to season
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • mushrooms (optional)

Method:

  1. Place all ingredients into the slow-cooker and cook on high for 8 – 10 hours. (this cooking time may vary depending on your cooker, mine takes 10 hours on high)
  2. Half an hour before it is done, make some dumplings as per the instructions on the suet packet.
  3. Serve with crunchy bread and butter.
